What is combated needs to be thought in emotional terms. These currents that pull the individual in the opposite direction are the "raw FREEDOM 39 material" out of which the creation is fashioned.

Right and wrong are differentiated according to paths generated by the necessary or the contingent. The contingent has a strong pull--even sometimes an addictive one-but the necessary always sends signals through the complexities of the personality that reach the ego if there is sufficient contemplative space for it to be reached. The emotional structure that I have been describing is the lens through which we see the world. The world I see through a free structure is very different from the one I see through imprisoned eyes.
